Chicago Townhouse: Urban Garden and Garage
The schematic design goals for this Chicago Townhouse Urban Garden are: 1) To integrate first floor accessibility from the street and garage; 2) To extend the home’s social area by providing an outdoor room with covered seating; 3) To provide a lower maintenance urban garden for vegetables and perennials. The 8’ column trellises extend the garden upward and frame the space. They can support a variety of plants in this climate zone, such as, Clematis, Kiwi Vine, Climbing Hydrangeas, English ivy, Climbing Rose, Grape, Wisteria, etc. As with all schematic designs, it will need to be tested and developed – it can be fully enjoyed when it’s built.
