AMERICAN DISABILITIES ACTAmerican Disabilities Act 2010 applies if the construction start date after March 15, 2012, all newly constructed or altered State and local government facilities must comply with the 2010 Standards.

FHA DESIGN MANUALFair Housing Act Design Manual requirements apply to buildings built for first occupancy after March 13, 1991, which fall under the definition of “covered multifamily dwellings.” Covered multifamily dwellings are: 1. all dwelling units in buildings containing four or more dwelling units if such buildings have one or more elevators, and 2. all ground floor dwelling units in other buildings containing four or more units.

US ACCESS BOARDThe Access Board is an independent Federal agency devoted to accessibility for people with disabilities. The Board is now a leading source of information on accessible design. The Board develops and maintains design criteria for the built environment. It also provides technical assistance and training In accessible design and continues to enforce accessibility standards that cover federally funded facilities.

On national, state, and local levels, the Council for Disability Rights advances the rights of people and enhances the lives of people with disabilities. STATE OF OHIOThe Ohio Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) is statewide. It is a no-cost energy assistance program designed to increase the energy efficiency of home owned or occupied by income-eligible Ohioans, reduce household energy expenditures, and improve participants’ health and safety.

The City of Cincinnati has property tax abatement for 10 years for any increased valuation that results from improvements to a property for both new construction and renovation. Condominiums and 1, 2, or 3-unit residential structures within the City of Cincinnati are eligible for the residential tax abatement. New LEED construction of 1, 2, and 3-unit residential structures, including condominiums, are eligible for a 15-year 100% tax abatement on the improvements.
